Residents to Vote on Proposition M on April 4

On April 4, 2023, Glendale residents will vote on Proposition M, an additional 3% sales tax on adult use (recreational) marijuana. The Missouri Constitution allows municipalities to impose an additional sales tax of up to 3% on retail sales of adult-use marijuana with voter approval.  Glendale has no financial projections related to this sales tax due to the current lack of dispensaries within the city limits.

Shall the City of Glendale be authorized to impose a sales tax of three percent (3.0%) on the retail sale of adult use marijuana within the City of Glendale?

St. Louis County has a similar proposition on the April 4th ballot, also called Proposition M, imposing an additional sales tax on adult use marijuana.

Fast Facts About Glendale's Proposition M:

  • Imposes an additional 3% sales tax on adult use (recreational) marijuana.
  • Applies to dispensaries in Glendale only. No dispensaries are currently located in Glendale.
  • Does not apply to medical marijuana.
  • The 3% sales tax on adult use marijuana would be in addition to the 6% state tax on recreational marijuana and all other applicable sales tax in place.
