The City of Glendale Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of all public streets within the city. Street-related activities are organized into three primary categories: Street Repairs, Pavement Maintenance, and Street Improvements.
Street Repairs includes routine maintenance activities such as pothole filling and the replacement of small, localized sections of deteriorated asphalt pavement. This work is performed by City personnel and funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Program. Residents wishing to request a pothole repair or report street damage may contact the Public Works Department at 314-965-3600 or by visiting https://www.glendalemo.org/how_do_i/contact_us.php.
Pavement Maintenance consists of preventive maintenance activities designed to extend the service life of existing pavement and reduce long-term rehabilitation costs. Typical activities include crack sealing, sealcoating, pavement milling, and resurfacing. These projects are completed by local pavement contractors and are funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Program.
Street Improvements involve the reconstruction of streets that have not previously received improvements or have deteriorated to a condition requiring full replacement. This category of work may include curb replacement, major pavement repair or replacement, and sidewalk repair, replacement, or installation. Street improvement projects are performed by local street construction contractors and are funded through Proposition S or Federal Aid programs.
