The City of Glendale has acquired federal aid funding through the Surface Transportation Program administered by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments for the preservation of N. Sappington Rd between Manchester Rd and Lockwood Ave, a project titled N. Sappington Rd STP Preservation Project 5568 (604).
This project entails the replacement of broken and deteriorated sections of concrete sidewalks and curbing, replacement of all ADA sidewalk ramps to meet current federal standards, replacement of all stamped concrete crosswalks, pavement milling, stormwater improvements, and a new asphalt overlay.
Cost, Construction Plans and Contact Information
The estimated cost to construct the improvements is $1,105,500. The STP program provided $884,000 in federal aid, leaving Glendale to cost-share the remaining balance of $221,100. Construction Schedule and Progress Updates
Survey work for this project is complete. The survey data was used to develop a Preliminary Design, which can be viewed here.
The city is currently working to acquire temporary and permanent easements needed to replace the ADA sidewalk ramps, which is federally required.
Now that the easements have been acquired, a Final Design has been developed and can be viewed here.
Construction is estimated to begin in the spring of 2026 and continue for approximately 6 months. Updates will be posted to this page.
