Vector Control
In July 2019, Glendale joined 70+ municipalities in the St. Louis area who contract mosquito control services with St. Louis County’s Public Health department, division of Vector Control.
Glendale’s immediate neighbors, Webster Groves, Kirkwood, Rock Hill, and Warson Woods all contract mosquito control services with Vector Control (VC). VC implements a comprehensive mosquito control program with an emphasis on trapping, monitoring, and larvicide applications. Larvicide applications, a process by which product is added to standing water on a routine basis which prevents mosquito larvae from developing into an adult, is the best form of mosquito control. VC will only apply adulticide (fogging), the least effective means of mosquito control, if a mosquito-borne disease is found through the trapping and monitoring process.
