Richard J. Magee was appointed to the Board of Alderman representing Ward III in February of 1995. He was then elected to this seat and sworn into office on May 6, 1996 and continued to be re-elected to serve in this capacity until he was elected Mayor and sworn into office on May 2, 2005. He was re-elected to a sixth term as Mayor on April 7, 2015.
Mayor Magee is married to his wife Peggy, and they have two sons, R.J. and Collum. He holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from Washington University School of Law. He is a member of the Kirkwood Optimist and Kirkwood Rotary International. He is also a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Mayor Magee is an active member of the Missouri Municipal League and has served as a member of the MML Board. He is also an active member of the St. Louis County Municipal League.
