Since July 2019, Glendale has partnered with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health’s Vector Control division for mosquito control services, joining more than 70 municipalities across the St. Louis area. Vector Control uses a comprehensive approach focused on trapping, monitoring, and larvicide treatments.

Larvicide treatments, which involve routinely treating standing water to prevent mosquito larvae from developing into adults, are considered the most effective method of mosquito control. Adulticide applications (fogging), the least effective form of control, are only used if mosquito-borne disease is detected through the trapping and monitoring process.
