The City of Glendale, Missouri, a residential community of 6,176 people located in central St. Louis County, seeks to fill the position of Assistant to the City Administrator (Part Time). Glendale is an attractive community with a strong real estate market and community spirit. The City has 30 full-time employees and provides fire/EMS, police, public works, and administrative services.
The City is looking for a candidate who will thrive in a lean organization that values the highest levels of resident service, ingenuity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have some level of local government experience or be actively enrolled in an MPA or MPPA program, be willing to learn and adapt to new responsibilities, and bring a positive, energetic attitude to the workplace every day. This is a new position, created with the dual-purpose of providing an entry level position in local government management and filling the administrative needs of the City.
The Assistant to the City Administrator position serves as a front line primary point of contact for residents, works daily alongside the Deputy City Clerk, manages all aspects of the City’s communication program, assists the Finance Officer, and over time will develop experience in all aspects of municipal government administration.
Regular working hours are flexible, particularly around an MPA/MPPA class schedule, but expected to be approximately 25-30 hours per week, M-F. Being part-time, this position is not eligible for benefits.
