For some time, the City of Glendale has experienced weak cell phone reception in various parts of our community.
One of these weak reception areas is the City Hall itself, which provides public safety services to the citizens
of Glendale and houses our emergency operations center.
The City has also received numerous complaints from residents as to the generally poor cell phone coverage in the City.
In order to address this deficiency, the cell tower located at the City Hall will be receiving a 30-foot extension.
When completed, this single pole tower should significantly improve cell phone service throughout the City of Glendale
for those customers who currently use the carriers located on this tower.
This project, which is being performed by AT&T, is expected to be completed sometime in July.
Currently AT&T has provided a temporary tower on site until construction of the tower extension is completed.
This temporary tower is needed to provide continuous cell phone coverage and will be immediately removed once the
improvements to the current tower has been completed.
The overriding motivation for this cell tower extension is to improve day-to-day cell phone service to the citizens of
our community and address an identified public safety weakness in our communication capabilities.
For those residents affected and/or concerned with this construction activity at City Hall,
we appreciate your continued patience as we work to address this problem for the betterment of the entire community.
